Overview
The MMS6110 is a dual-channel shaft relative vibration monitoring module manufactured by EPRO (Vibro-Meter / Emerson), part of the MMS6000 machine monitoring system family. It is designed to measure radial shaft vibration using eddy current transducer chains (PR642xx eddy current sensors + CON0xx preamplifiers), widely used for protection and condition monitoring of rotating machinery in power plants and heavy industrial facilities.
Each of the two channels can work independently or combined to compute vibration values following international standards including API 670, VDI 2059 and DIN 45670. The module supports hot-swap operation and redundant power supply, critical for continuous running turbine systems without shutdown. It records startup and shutdown vibration history for post-fault diagnosis.

Working Principle
The MMS6110 receives signal from eddy current displacement sensors mounted near the rotating shaft. The eddy current sensor detects tiny gaps between shaft surface and probe, converting mechanical vibration into analog voltage signals.
The module’s internal linearization processor converts raw sensor signals into calibrated vibration values (peak or peak-to-peak). Users can configure independent alarm and trip limits for each channel. When vibration exceeds preset thresholds, the module triggers relay outputs for machine protection.
It continuously checks sensor cable integrity, signal window and internal hardware health. Any wiring break, sensor failure or module over-temperature will trigger fault status and front-panel LED indication. The module also logs vibration data during machine startup and coast-down for post-event analysis.
RS485/RS232 communication exports real-time vibration values and fault codes to DCS, plant SCADA or diagnostic software.
