1336-BDB-SP49D Allen Bradley Gate Drive Board

1336-BDB-SP49D is an Allen‑Bradley Rockwell Automation Bulletin 1336 PLUS / 1336 IMPACT gate drive board, also known as the base drive board, for legacy 1336 series AC variable frequency drives. This power interface board drives the IGBT power stage of the drive and is a common spare component for repairing large 1336 VFD units deployed on conveyors, fans, pumps, extruders and process machinery across manufacturing, mining and material handling facilities.

This SP49D variant receives PWM command signals from the main control board, isolates and amplifies drive signals to trigger the high‑power IGBT modules. It integrates gate drive transformers, fault detection circuits, short‑circuit protection and desaturation monitoring to detect IGBT faults and trigger drive shutdown before catastrophic power device failure. It works together with the main control board, power supply board and IGBT stack inside the 1336 drive cabinet.

It belongs to the discontinued 1336 drive platform. Rockwell no longer manufactures new production units, so this board is primarily sourced as a maintenance spare for existing installed drives instead of new VFD builds. Compatibility is restricted to specific horsepower and voltage frames of 1336 IMPACT and 1336 PLUS II drives; cross‑checking of the full drive catalog number is required to confirm fitment, as different SP suffix boards are not interchangeable across all 1336 frames.

When this board fails, typical symptoms include drive fault codes related to power section faults, IGBT short warnings, inability to enable output, or immediate trip on power‑up.
