Functional Characteristics

Overview

The VMIVME-7459 is a versatile mass storage module designed for use with GE Fanuc Embedded Systems’ VME processors.

• Supports one CD/DVD drive and one IDE hard disk drive on a single IDE interface.

• Provides flexibility to operate as:

  • CD-only module

  • Hard disk-only module

  • Fully populated storage solution (CD/DVD + HDD).

• Can be used in conjunction with other storage modules (e.g., VMIVME-7452 floppy disk module).

Drive Options

CD-RW Drive Option:

• Compatible with: Photo CD, CD-I, Video CD, Enhanced CD, CD PLUS, CD-ROM-XA, CD-DA, CD-RW.

• Supported formats: Disc-At-Once, Track-At-Once, Multisession, Incremental Packet Writing.

CD-ROM Drive Option:

• Supports multisession discs.

• Compatible with: Photo CD, CD-I, Video CD, Enhanced CD, CD PLUS.

DVD-ROM Drive Option (most versatile):

• Reads: DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW.

• Provides CD-RW and CD-ROM compatibility.

IDE Hard Disk (optional):

• Configurable as IDE master or slave via jumpers.

• Capacity: up to 80 GB.

Cable Options

The VMIVME-7459 connects to the SBC IDE interface through VME P2 user-defined pins.
Cable selection depends on SBC type and chassis layout:

• Single-slot SBC (adjacent placement):

  • Use VMXC-2 cable (2-slot).

  • Use VMXC-3 cable (3-slot) if combined with floppy disk module.

• Double-slot SBC or non-adjacent placement:

  • Use VMXC-H cable assembly (14-inch).

A high-impedance fault detection module for fast, reliable detection of faults caused by downed conductors.
