1336-BDB-SP53C Allen Bradley Gate Drive Board

1336-BDB-SP53C is an Allen‑Bradley Rockwell Automation Bulletin 1336 base gate drive board for high‑horsepower 1336 IMPACT, 1336 PLUS II and 1336 FORCE variable frequency drives. It is the power interface PCB responsible for receiving PWM signals from the main control board and driving the IGBT power stack inside large frame 1336 VFDs, widely used as critical repair spare for heavy‑duty fans, pumps, extruders, conveyors and process drives in mining, oil & gas and heavy manufacturing.

This SP53C variant is built for high current 460V 1336 drive frames, rated for up to 450 HP drive configurations. It integrates gate drive transformers, desaturation detection, short‑circuit protection and IGBT fault monitoring circuits. When an IGBT fault or shoot‑through condition is detected, the board triggers an immediate drive shutdown to prevent catastrophic failure of the power modules. It is not interchangeable with smaller SP-suffix BDB boards such as SP49D; the full catalog number of your 1336 drive must be verified before ordering to confirm frame and power rating compatibility.

The entire 1336 drive platform is end‑of‑life by Rockwell. New original factory production is no longer available, so demand for 1336-BDB-SP53C comes almost exclusively from plant maintenance, emergency breakdown repair and spare stock retention for existing running assets. Common failure symptoms include drive power section faults, IGBT fault alarms, inability to enable output, or immediate trip upon power application. Static component testing, gate waveform validation and high‑pot inspection are strongly recommended before field installation.

This board contains sensitive high‑voltage SMD electronics; strict ESD control is required during handling and replacement. Capacitor aging is a common failure point on these legacy gate drive boards after years of service.
