Known Issues and Anomalies – CPE305 / CPE310 and Related Modules

1. Serial I/O Half Duplex Mode – Low Baud Rates

  • Condition: Serial I/O protocol, 2-wire half-duplex mode, baud < 19.2 kbaud

  • Issue: Last transmitted character may appear as the first character in the receive buffer when switching from TX to RX.

  • Impact: Possible corrupted first character in received messages.

  • Workaround: Use baud rates ≥ 19.2 kbaud if possible.


2. Rare Power-Up Problem

  • Condition: Logic & configuration source set to Flash.

  • Issue: On rare occasions, controller powers up with all LEDs blinking in unison and becomes unreachable.

  • Workaround: Power cycle the controller (off → on).


3. ECM850 Reset (via Pushbutton or SVC_REQ 24)

  • Condition: ECM850 reset triggered.

  • Issue: CPU does not report Addition of IOC fault message in the Controller fault table after reset.

  • Impact: Missing fault log entry (but reset completes successfully).

  • Workaround: None required – awareness only.


4. Flash Part Issue (2012 Production Only)

  • Condition: CPE305/CPE310 shipped in 2012, with Energy Pack connected.

  • Issue: Substandard flash parts caused extended write times, exceeding Energy Pack capacity.

    • Result: User memory not preserved fault after power cycle.

  • Status:

    • Affected units: Manufactured/shipped during 2012 only.

    • Units before 2012 or after Jan 1, 2013 are not affected.

  • Resolution: Replace affected 2012 units via warranty return.


5. Ethernet COMMREQs on First Logic Sweep

  • Condition: Large user logic; COMMREQ issued on first logic sweep.

  • Issue: COMMREQ may be aborted before transmission, especially from embedded Ethernet port.

  • Workaround: Avoid issuing COMMREQs on the first logic sweep.


6. PMM335 Loss Detected on CPU Power Down

  • Condition: CPU powering down with PMM335 (PACMotion controller) connected.

  • Issue: CPU may log Loss of PMM335 module just before shutdown.

  • Impact: False loss indication; module is present again on power-up.

  • Workaround: None required.

  • Verification:

    1. Check timestamp in Loss of Module report – aligns with power-down event.

    2. PME “Show Status Details” – confirms PMM335 is present after power
