What the PB designation means

For 60WKS-CE240/xx-PB, the documentation specifies a configuration with:

Three-phase isolation transformer

Therefore, the 60WKS-CE240/12PB is not simply a generic 240 V servo amplifier. The PB configuration is an important part of the original system architecture and should be retained when selecting a replacement.

Control architecture

The 60WKS uses a relatively classic analog servo architecture:

Command → speed/current regulation → three-phase transistor PWM power stage → SM synchronous servo motor

The motor’s RLG rotor-position sensor provides the electronic position information needed for phase commutation. The drive regulates the trapezoidal output current and motor speed using PI controllers.

This makes the unit fundamentally different from a modern digital servo drive with EtherCAT, PROFINET, or Ethernet/IP.

Customer customization board

A particularly important maintenance feature is the front-accessible customer customization board.

The adjustable operating parameters and application-specific adaptations are located on this board. Standard potentiometers could also be replaced with fixed resistors for series production.

For an obsolete 60WKS replacement, this board should therefore be inspected carefully because the original drive’s application-specific settings may not be contained solely in the catalog model number.

Backplane / mechanical options
