Description

The 3500/22M Transient Data Interface (TDI) serves as the communication link between the 3500 Machinery Protection System and compatible software applications, including System 1® Condition Monitoring and Diagnostic Software and 3500 System Configuration Software.

The TDI combines the functions of the 3500/20 Rack Interface Module (RIM) with the data acquisition capabilities of communication processors such as TDXnet, providing an integrated interface and data collection solution within a single module.

Installed in the slot adjacent to the power supplies, the TDI interfaces directly with M-series monitors (e.g., 3500/40M, 3500/42M, etc.) to continuously acquire both steady-state and transient dynamic (waveform) data. This data is transmitted via an Ethernet link to the host software for real-time monitoring, analysis, and diagnostics.

By default, the TDI provides static data capture capability. When equipped with an optional Channel Enabling Disk, it can also capture dynamic and high-resolution transient data, expanding its diagnostic functionality.

The TDI integrates the communication processor function directly into the 3500 rack, simplifying system architecture and eliminating the need for external data processors.

Although the TDI performs functions common to the entire rack, it is not part of the critical machinery protection path and therefore does not affect the protection functions of the 3500 system.

Each 3500 rack must include one TDI or RIM, which is always installed in Slot 1 (adjacent to the power supplies).
