Description

The 3500 Power Supplies are half-height modules designed for installation in the dedicated power-supply slots located on the left side of the 3500 rack. A 3500 rack supports one or two power supply modules—in any combination of AC and/or DC versions—and either module is capable of powering the entire rack.

When two power supplies are installed, the lower slot functions as the primary supply, while the upper slot serves as the backup. The system automatically transfers power if the primary supply fails. Inserting or removing a power supply module does not interrupt rack operation as long as the other supply is present and functioning.

The 3500 Power Supplies accept a wide range of input voltages and convert them into the stable operating voltages required by all 3500 Series modules.

Three versions are available for the 3500 Machinery Protection System:

High-Voltage DC Power Supply

Low-Voltage DC Power Supply

The 3500 Power Supplies support multiple input configurations depending on the selected Power Supply Module and Power Input Module (PIM).

High Voltage AC Input

Uses the AC Power Supply with the High Voltage AC PIM.

Input Voltage:

Nominal: 220 Vac

Range: 175 to 264 Vac rms

Peak: 247 to 373 Vac pk

Input Frequency: 47 to 63 Hz

Note:
Installations using AC PIMs prior to Rev. R and/or AC Power Supply Modules prior to Rev. M require an input range of 175 to 250 Vac rms.

Low Voltage AC Input

Uses the AC Power Supply with the Low Voltage AC PIM.

Input Voltage:

Nominal: 110 Vac

Range: 85 to 132 Vac rms

Peak: 120 to 188 Vac pk

Input Frequency: 47 to 63 Hz

Note:
Installations using AC PIMs prior to Rev. R and/or AC Power Supply Modules prior to Rev. M require an input range of 85 to 125 Vac rms.

High Voltage DC Input

Uses the High Voltage DC Power Supply with the High Voltage DC PIM.

Input Voltage: 88 to 140 Vdc

Low Voltage DC Input

Uses the Low Voltage DC Power Supply with the Low Voltage DC PIM.

Input Voltage: 20 to 30 Vdc

Out-of-Range Protection

Applicable to all power supply versions:

Under-voltage:
Will not damage the Power Supply or PIM.

Over-voltage:
Causes the PIM fuse to open, protecting the system.

Full Rack Current Draw (Maximum)

High Voltage AC: 2.3 A rms

Low Voltage AC: 4.5 A rms

High Voltage DC: 2.5 A

Low Voltage DC: 10.0 A

Illuminates when the power supply is functioning correctly.
