Mounting Options

1. Face Mounting
The display is installed directly on the front panel of any full-size 3500 rack using a specialized hinged support. This design allows access to the rack’s buffered output connectors, user-interface buttons, and switches without disconnecting or disabling the display.
Note: For this mounting option, the Display Interface Module (DIM) must be installed in slot 15 (the right-most slot) of the rack. The face-mounting option is not compatible with the 3500 Mini-rack.

2. 19-inch EIA Rack Mounting
The display is mounted on standard 19-inch EIA rails and can be located up to 100 feet from the 3500 System, or up to 4000 feet when used with the External Power Supply.

3. Panel Mounting
The display is installed in a panel cutout within the same cabinet or up to 100 feet from the 3500 System. Distances of up to 4000 feet are supported when the External Power Supply is used.

4. Independent Mounting
The display is mounted flush against a wall or panel and can be placed up to 100 feet from the 3500 System, or up to 4000 feet when using the External Power Supply.

Display and DIM Requirements

Up to two displays may be connected to each 3500 rack.

Each display requires one empty rack slot to accommodate its corresponding Display Interface Module (DIM).

For non-face-mounted installations, the cable connection between the DIM and the display may be routed from the front of the 3500 rack or from the rear I/O module.

External Power Supply Requirements

Cable lengths greater than 100 feet require the use of the External Power Supply and Cable Adapter.

Applications using the back-lighted Display Unit must always use the External Power Supply.

Two versions of the External Power Supply are available:

115 Vac input

230 Vac input

External Power/Terminal Strip Mounting Kit

The External Power/Terminal Strip Mounting Kit simplifies the installation of External Power Supplies. It is designed to fit directly into the Independent Mount Housing but can also be used in customer-supplied housings. The kit streamlines and organizes installation in either configuration.
